Andra Day and Andi Matichak
Cassandra Monique Batie also known as Andra is an American R&B and soul the singer/songwriter. She is the recipient of many awards, such as a Grammy Award a Children's and Family Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award along with nomination for an Academy Award. Andra Day, a talented singer-songwriter with roots in gospel music and blues that has a passion for the contemporary world, is more than just an R&B throwback expert. The ability she has to mix her jazz influences with gospel and blues in the R&B style is quite impressive. Her debut album, Cheers to the Autumn (2015) she made it in to the Top Ten R&B/hip hop charts and was awarded a couple of Grammy acknowledgements. In 2017, her work on Marshall's soundtrack was also recognized with the Academy Award. Amen and Make Your Troubles Away and The United States Versus Billie Holiday each have singles building anticipation for the release of her second album. Andra has been born Cassandra Monique Batie on Edmonds Washington. As a child within San Diego and surrounding areas her first performance was in the church and was enrolled into at the School of Creative and Performing Arts. She switched her attention towards contemporary R&B to pop following her graduation and was later attracted back to the soul and jazz singers she listened to as a child. A major break came in the form of a concert she gave was spotted by Kai Millard Morris who subsequently took some of Day's music to husband Stevie Wonder. The Motown legend then became acquainted Day with music industry veteran Adrian Gurvitz. Day who was linked to Gurvitz and Jeffrey Evans Buskin Label Day, became a YouTube sensation after which she signed with Warner Bros. In 2012 Day released Forever Mine as her debut song on YouTube. The song was immediately picked up by DJs who began airing the track on radio. Following her signing with Warner Bros. Records, she began working with producer Adrian Gurvitz for the album she released as her first "Cheers to the fall" (2015). The single "Rise Up" has become a massive anthem in social justice movements. Day was awarded two Grammy nominations for the field in the category of Best R&B Album for her album. The United States vs. Billie Holiday, a concept-album that chronicles the legendary jazz artist's life, was released in the year 2019. Also, she appeared in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, a film that tells the story of Holiday. Andi Matichak is an American actress. She made her television debut in shows like 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods before making her movie debut in the role of Allyson Nelson on the horror film series Halloween as well as its sequels.
