Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Some of her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford can be seen next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream on Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford is set to return in 2023, and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the nation's first impeachment proceedings during the Over an Century. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant role. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway roles for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned an Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
